Abstract:- Advances in digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) offer unprecedented opportunities to enhance education in rural India. This study examines how AI-powered educational tools can improve digital literacy and learning outcomes among rural secondary school students, in alignment with India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 (Government of India, Ministry of Education, 2020). The researcher conducted a comprehensive review of peer-reviewed literature, government reports, international documents, and program evaluations. Key themes include definitions of digital literacy and AI in education, challenges of the digital divide in rural contexts, and a comparison of public-sector (Government-led) versus private- sector Ed-tech initiatives. The literature indicates that AI-enabled adaptive learning platforms and mobile technologies can significantly boost student engagement and achievement (Sam, 2024; UNESCO, 2025). Government initiatives like DIKSHA (Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing) have seen high uptake during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a large proportion of surveyed rural teachers and students using the platform to access lessons and materials (Verma, Dash, & Purohit,2025). Private companies have also extended their content to under-resourced areas through partnerships, reaching thousands of rural students (Isha Vidhya, 2024)…….
