Abstract:- The debate over holding synchronized elections for the House of the People and State Legislative Assemblies has lasted many years. In simple terms, simultaneous elections mean voting for all three levels of government—Lok Sabha, Vidhan Sabha, and local bodies—at the same time. Voters then choose representatives for these levels on a single day. To manage the elections for the President, Vice President, Rajya Sabha, Lok Sabha, state and district assemblies, and local bodies, the Election Commission is in charge. They spend most of their time counting votes, updating voter lists, and dividing constituencies. India’s constitution creates a system that is neither fully federal like the U.S. nor completely unitary like the U.K. Both the Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha need regular elections. The idea of “One Nation-One Election” faces both opportunities and challenges, which are discussed here.
